University of Houston held it's Graduate Orientation on 18th Aug. For me, this is the second Grad school after a long gap of 16 years, in a different country and in a different field. This was indeed an exciting moment for me! Summers can be sometimes brutal in Houston. And that morning was no different. As I reached the venue around 8 am, there were already few hundreds of people in front me. The queue seemed long and serpentine, but thankfully it was not a huge waiting time. I had a great morning at the Graduate Orientation. I enjoyed enthusiasm of the people hosting the event. The day was packed with events - from hot breakfast to panel discussions, the highly enjoyable mid-day lunch to meeting fellow students from diverse backgrounds!
Dr. Bruce Jones opened the session. Few of the faculty members shared their insights on how to survive and succeed in Graduate school and I think I would like to save them here so that I can look back at them when the ascent seems challenging!
